obsession?

i have several new obsessions. the newest addition is the vancouver 2010 website. i'm not sure how phenomenal the rest of the website is, but their hockey page is fantastic! my favorite part is the live game page. it has live updates and even pops up who is in the penalty box! not that i particularly care about the czech-latvia game. but when the next usa game happens i will definitely be glued to my laptop.

the one thing they're missing is a medal round tournament chart. i got really confused that they knew who was in the first two quarter-final rounds but nothing about who is in the other two. they have to know who has at least one of the spots in each game. i found something to fill this need on nbc website.
ooooh the olympics!!!

the great organization

*organizing projects of my own*
-file drawer: inspired by jean chatzky's list in make money, not excuses, i organized my important documents. i have since added folders for job searching and apartment hunting. the files are rotated out at the end of tax time each year. the old files are put in a plastic file box.
-desk drawer: annoyed by the clutter contain in this drawer i bought two desk drawer organizers and laid them side by side, giving me plenty of compartments for all those little things.
-bedroom shelving: lacking enough storage space for odds and ends and having plenty of shelving but few drawers, i purchased three storage cubes in varying colors. each contains different things. one contains bathroom and personal supplies (band-aids and such). another contains a sewing kit, some of my jewelry boxes, and several nail polish bottles. the last one contains stationary and printer supplies.
-class binder: for my classes this semester, i knew that there would be a lot of printouts and i thought it would be too costly to buy tabs to separate them. i bought post-it arrows and use those with the handout number written with sharpie to separate them.
-moving: when i moved into my current apartment i was also planning a trip to ireland. i was to move out of my apartment on saturday and leave for my trip on monday. i needed to be highly organized. i made a list of what to pack for ireland and made sure to not pack those things in my moving boxes. then i tallied everything i was going to move. and estimated how much stuff would go into how many boxes. i was actually dead-on. and i wasn't missing a thing when i was abroad.
-boyfriend: i am so into organizing that i have also convinced my boyfriend to take it on. his bedroom is still a work in progress, but i have contained a lot of the miscellaneous things into the same boxes i mentioned above. his music collection has also been reorganized.
-menu: i have a system set up where i plan my meals for the week and make a grocery list for all the things i'll need that i'm missing. also i organize my shopping list by the order they appear in the store.
-kitchen: when i was unpacking my boxes, i rearranged much of the kitchen stuffs so as to fit in my additions. also i've taken the opportunity to do a larger reorganization while my roommate is out of town.or

knit this

looking through a friend's blog i found a posting about knitted chairs! who knew?!? i'm not a great knitter, but it does hold a fascination with me. and i'm all for turning something inexpensive (a plastic lawn chair) into something fabulous. the writer of this blog turns these plastic chairs into beautiful comfy creations. what a way to decorate your lawn, or deck! i haven't looked at the patterns that she provides. i think they'll be out of my range. i can only do one stitch, the perl. or is it the knit? i don't even know. but i can only do one of them. so complex patterns aren't in my immediate ability. though whenever i look at projects like this, it makes me want to learn. some day, maybe some day i'll hate my lawn chairs so much i'll learn just to knit a cover for them!

please visit the knitted chairs on wordpress.

morality

oh those damned things called ethics! not that i am an unethical person, but when you have to write a paper about that ethical problems concerning construction projects, you'll be frustrated too. what's most bizarre is that i would never do the actions that are represented in the paper topic. and i know that many people in my field would do them, without giving it a second thought. boo to them all!!! i really want to be the exception. we'll see, we'll see.

trying to restart my life

my battery is a bit low and i'm running out of time. the days are starting to take a toll on me. i still am in need of a job. i've started the spring semester and it's isn't going very well. and the money is definitely tight.

i feel like i've applied to every job that is slightly in and out of my range. and there's nothing. money's thin. i am getting my tax return (definite bank) but i promised that it would all go towards my school tuition. then the classes themselves. boring! and the homework is a joke. one teacher i really like. i had him last semester, and i still like him. he's a pretty awesome teacher. but the other one. whoa! is she awful! doesn't really teach. what we need to learn from the class, we can get out of the book and from her powerpoints (which she puts online).so we don't really need her, just the posts online.

i had a really bad day yesterday. but today i'm feeling better, more productive, and the like. and i'm joking with my boyfriend about turning my apartment into a library. quick thought: i don't think it's necessarily the shelves of books that i like about libraries. i think it's the amount of organization. libraries are usually highly organized. and i love organizing!!!

so on that note... i'm trying to organize my life. ask a few important questions. and work through it. (though not employed.)
