so once again i failed to take a lovely picture of my lunch, but this time i have a valid excuse. my camera has run out of batteries. it blizzarded like crazy here in chicago, and i was super excited to take some awesome snow shots to show the family (and friends). i took two pics then it died. no more pictures. i think i'll start the actually illustrated part of this blog next week (after i pick up some double-a batteries during this week's grocery shopping.)
but so today i had a turkey sandwich with smoked mozzarella cheese. this sandwich was supposed to be made the manchego cheese, but i couldn't find any at my grocery store. i'm sure whole foods has some, but i'm just too chicken to talk to the cheese counter people. i bought, instead, the smoked mozzarella from the deli counter. a very flavorful cheese. i couldn't really get over the smoky-ness of it when i first built this sandwich, so this time i cut off the outermost ring of the cheese. this made it softer and allowed the other flavors of the sandwich to come through.
another aspect of this sandwich is the use of roasted red peppers. these were awesome on the original sandwich. unfortunately i totally forgot about that part of the sandwich. instead i used the typical tomato slices. also on the original sandwich i found them hard to bite through, so when i use them again, i will probably dice them finely and use them more as a spread then a vegetable.
even with all the changes, this sandwich was still delicious. i'm going to have to get up the courage to talk to the cheese people. balls of steel.
