lights in the night

for longest time i've had a long string of christmas lights. my original intent was to make a jar light with them and use it as a desk lamp. i attempted to make this light but either the jar was too small or the light string was too long and thus too bulky. i never remembered to look for a larger jar. i just has the lights bundled on my window sill. and i occasionally plugged them in. almost since moving into my "new" apartment i've wanted to wrap my porch rail with the lights. i moved in september 1st '09. yeah, i take my time. i finally did it today. i was finally motivated enough to do it. hurray for me. it looks pretty fabulous. now i just have to figure out how to prevent people from stealing them. and how to have them lit without having to keep a non-screened kitchen window open. currently the plug comes through a hole in the screen and the open window and is plugged into an outlet below.
